Our story

SurViva was established in 2012, with the aim of enabling more start-ups in Norway survive the development phase and develop into value creating business. Our first project was related to transferring GE Healthcare’s facilities to a “development centre” for Norwegian life science industry, as GE considered to downscale their R&D function in Oslo.  A survey performed by SurViva demonstrated a market need for such an institution. However, due to lack of financing from public or private sources, the decision was made to demolish the GE Healthcare R&D building previously known as the “Rolls Royce of laboratory buildings” in early 2017.

SurViva and collaborators then believed that the time was ripe to realise the plans for a “development centre”. Laboratories and process facilities were established at Technopolis, Fornebu, under the auspices of “Catapult Life Science”and with laboratory equipment and furniture supplied by GE Healthcare. However, due to minimal public funding (NOK 100,000 from Innovation Norway) and limited private funding, Catapult Life Science was not viable.

However, the facilities were in place and a life science environment was developing, with Diatec Monoclonals, Polypure and SurViva as key players. During recent years, these three companies have expanded the facilities with further laboratories for biology, chemistry and production, and the environment is currently housing a total of seven businesses.

SurViva is providing services to the other companies at Fornebu, and also to companies elsewhere in Norway and abroad.

We are a team that together has extensive experience and broad expertise in research, product development and quality assurance. We work closely with our customers, and contribute with advice and practical assistance both in relation to laboratory work and documentation.
